Function

Receptor for adenosine. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibits adenylyl cyclase. Possible role in reproduction.

Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity

Most abundant in lung, spleen and pineal gland. Moderate expression in brain, kidney and testis.

Post-translational modification

Phosphorylation on Thr-315 and Ser-316 may be crucial for rapid desensitization. Phosphorylation on Thr-315 may be necessary for phosphorylation on Ser-316 to occur By similarity.
