Names and origin

Protein namesRecommended name:
    Arabinose operon protein araL
Gene names
Name: araL
Synonyms: yseA
Ordered Locus Names: BSU28770
OrganismBacillus subtilis [Complete proteome] [HAMAP]
Taxonomic identifier1423 [NCBI]
Taxonomic lineageBacteriaFirmicutesBacillalesBacillaceaeBacillus

Protein attributes

Sequence length272 AA.
Sequence statusComplete.
Sequence processingThe displayed sequence is not processed.
Protein existenceEvidence at transcript level.

General annotation (Comments)

Induction

Transcription is repressed by glucose and by the binding of araR to the operon promoter. L-arabinose acts as an inducer by inhibiting the binding of araR to the DNA, thus allowing expression of the gene.
