General annotation (Comments)

Function

Pseudokinase which, in complex with CAB39, binds to and activates STK11. Relocates STK11 from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Plays an essential role in STK11-mediated G1 cell cycle arrest.

Subunit structure

Interacts with BIRC4/XIAP. These two proteins are likely to coexist in a complex with TAK1, TRAF6, TAB1 and TAB2.

Subcellular location

Nucleus. Cytoplasm.

Tissue specificity

Highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, testis, liver and colon.

Domain

The protein kinase domain is predicted to be catalytically inactive.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. STE20 subfamily.

Contains 1 protein kinase domain.

Caution

Ser-184 is present instead of the conserved Asp which is expected to be an active site residue.

Alternative products

This entry describes 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing. [Align] [Select]
Isoform 1 (identifier: Q9C0K7-1)

Also known as: ILPIP-alpha;

This isoform has been chosen as the 'canonical' sequence. All positional information in this entry refers to it. This is also the sequence that appears in the downloadable versions of the entry.
Isoform 2 (identifier: Q9C0K7-2)

The sequence of this isoform differs from the canonical sequence as follows:
     372-377: MKEESQ → PYFEFL
     378-418: Missing.
Notes: No experimental confirmation available.
Isoform 3 (identifier: Q9C0K7-3)

Also known as: ILPIP-beta;

The sequence of this isoform differs from the canonical sequence as follows:
     1-138: Missing.
